CHICAGO (AP) — A woman who is a tutor at a church in the same Chicago neighborhood where members of actress Jennifer Hudson's family were killed is among potential jurors in the case.
An attorney for the man accused of killing Hudson's mother, brother and nephew questioned the woman Monday. The attorney asked the woman if she ever heard rumors around the neighborhood about the defendant, William Balfour. The woman said she hadn't.
With jury selection beginning in earnest, Judge Charles Burns told attorneys each side will be able to dismiss seven people without having to give a reason.
The judge plans to question around 50 possible jurors individually Monday, another 50 on Tuesday and, if necessary, more on Wednesday.
Hudson is expected to be at the trial every day once testimony begins.
