Quick Tip: Winter Car Safety

(WBDT) Dayton, OH - Everyone fears getting stranded in their car during a winter storm.  Make your drive safer in the unpredictable winter months by always being prepared. 

Having a winter emergency road kit is the best way to guarantee you're prepared. 

Things you'll need to store in your trunk:

* Rock salt to melt ice

* Sand or Cat Liter to put under your tires to improve traction

* Snow Shovel

* Blankets

* Water

*Non-perishable food (granola bars, energy bars, trail mix, etc)

Make sure you store things such as a flashlight, a couple snacks and water bottles, a car cellphone charger and extra gloves and hats in your glove compartment. 

It's smart to store these things in your glove compartment incase you're in a collision that enables you from opening your trunk. 

It's always better to be safe than sorry, especially in the winter months.
