Middletown, Ohio's own Kayla Harrison made her mark on Olympic history by winning a gold medal in Judo and becoming the first American to ever win a medal in the sport.

At 26 years old, Kayla is a true powerhouse in Judo. She started training at a very young age and by 18 was a two time national champion. In fact, her mother, is a black belt and introduced her to the sport.

Her road to success has not been easy but her family has been by her side, supporting her through every hardship.

Currently, Kayla is engaged to her fellow judoka, Aaron Handy and lives in Massachusetts.
